The bite was scarce last weekend, but it seems to have been picking up this week due to the full moon. A few wahoo are starting to show up from the full moon and mild cold front, especially closer to the Bahamas. Around here, 150-400rsquo; is where wahoo have hooked up along with blackfin tuna. Troll with small feathers at during lowlight for tuna, and use the small ones to catch wahoo. Another option is to pick up a local favorite Junkanoo Lure and high speed troll in a zig-zag pattern. Sailfish are also coming out of the woodwork, and kite fishing with hearty live baits like goggle-eyes or blue runners is your best bet.

Kingfish and large mutton snapper have been eating sardines near 120 ndash; 200rsquo;, and yellowtail snapper has been showing up in strong numbers.

Inshore, the mullet run is still hot, andnbsp;snook, jacks, tarpon, ladyfish, and redfish arenrsquo;t far behind them. Live mullet or top water plugs at low-lighted times of the day near bridges, Juno Pier, Jupiter Jetty, or Palm Beach Inlet should bring you some bites during outgoing tides.

The Juno Beach pier and the beach has has been pretty sold, with lots of bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jacks, runners, pompano, jacks, and redfish. Juno Bait recommends a Rapala X-Rap or Yo-Zuri Mag Darter for some solid action. Mangrove snapper have been feasting on live shrimp at the pier this week as well.

NOAA Weather Forecast:

Friday, 10/26: Mostly Sunny, High of 88 degrees, Southwest winds at 10-15 knots,nbsp;2-3rsquo; seas at 7 second periods, Intracoastal waters anbsp;lightnbsp;chop.

Saturday, 10/27: Mostly Sunny with a 10 chance of showers, High of 86 degrees, West winds at 5-10 knots, 2-3rsquo; seas at 5 second periods, Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Sunday, 10/28: Sunny, High of 79 degrees, North northeast winds at 10-15 nbsp;knots, seasnbsp;2-4rsquo;, occasional 5rsquo;, Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

As usual, have a safe, fun weekend on the South Florida water, and send any good pictures or stories to Lacey@wfpcc.com for a chance to be featured

Waterfront Restaurant Cruising Guide: Palm Beach Inlet to Jupiter Sound

A ldquo;Sunday Fundayrdquo; on the water is the perfect way to relax in the warm Florida sunshine with the ocean breeze on your face. The blue water and convenient variety of waterfront restaurants on the intracoastal waterway (ICW) from Palm Beach Inlet to Jupiter provides for the ultimate cruise. Wersquo;ve started at Palm Beach Inlet and worked our way up to Jupiter Sound with these nine waterfront restaurants worth adding to your bucket list

Stop 1:nbsp;Sailfish Marina, Singer Island

Voted the ldquo;Best Sunday Brunchrdquo; on Trip Advisor, itrsquo;s only appropriate to kick off your Sunday shenanigans at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island. Overlooking Peanut Island, this well-known resort and fishing destination opens at 7am with a sprawling bloody mary bar and brunch buffet.

Stop 2:nbsp;Frigatersquo;s Waterfront Bar amp; Grill, North Palm Beach

Head North in the ICW under the Blue Heron Bridge, past the first little island you see, Little Munyon Island, on your right, then take a quick detour through Earman River on the West side of the ICW. Right inside the mouth of the river before the bridge is Frigatersquo;s, also known for their buffet-style brunch including breakfast food, as well as unlimited sushi, a pasta bar, and bloody mary bar. The outdoor bar is located at the perfect spot to enjoy their conch salad served in a whole avocado and people watch as North Palm Beachers slow-cruise out on their way to Peanut Island. On Sundays, Frigatersquo;s opens at 9am.

Stop 3:nbsp;Waterway Cafeacute;, Palm Beach Gardens

Head North on the ICW from here and bear left after Munyon Island, the right at the fork all the way up to Waterway Cafeacute; located on the left before the PGA Bridge. This open-air seafood spot is perfect to munch on some fish dip and refresh with the obligatory rum runner on their floating tiki bar.

Stop 4:nbsp;BrickToprsquo;s, Palm Beach Gardens

On the North side of the PGA Bridge, BrickToprsquo;s is an excellent choice for a social stop on the chart. This high-end seafood restaurant caters to class and sophistication inside with a small bar dockside for a quick cocktail or fresh Palm Beach Salad featuring crab meat and poached shrimp.

Stop 5:nbsp;Dive Bar Restaurant, Jupiter

Once you leave Palm Beach Gardens, itrsquo;s about a 6-mile cruise through the ICW North to Jupiter, but itrsquo;s well worth it. Arriving in Jupiter, Dive Bar is located on the East side at the Jupiter Yacht Club Marina, and offers the best sushi and sashimi on the water, as well as a full grill menu and tropic cocktails. If yoursquo;re in awe of giant saltwater aquariums, this is a must-see

Stop 6:nbsp;Guanabanas Restaurant, Jupiter

Venture North under the Indiantown Bridge and go right at the fork for Guanabanas, a tropical hide-a-way covered by banyan trees and tiki huts. This Costa-Rican inspired local seafood restaurant is one of the most ldquo;instagrammedrdquo; restaurants in the area.

Stop 7:nbsp;U-Tiki Beach, Jupiter

Cruise from Guanabanas West, then North to the Loxahatchee river, and East under U.S. Hwy 1 to U Tiki Beach. Featuring Caribbean food and drinks in an island setting, order fan-favorite appetizer tuna tostadas and must-try U-Tiki potatoes as a side with any meal. The foodrsquo;s delicious, and the view of the famous Jupiter Lighthouse is even better.

Stop 8:nbsp;Square Grouper Tiki Bar, Jupiter

A stonersquo;s throw west of U-Tiki is Square Grouper, the laid-back pirate-themed tiki bar on the water known for live music, good bar eats, and rumored as being the recording location of ldquo;Itrsquo;s 5 Orsquo;Clock Somewhererdquo; by Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson. This bar is 21-and-up, so leave the kids with a babysitter and bring your drinking shoes

Stop 9:nbsp;Tiki 52, Tequesta, ICW Marker 52

If yoursquo;re still not ready to go home, Tiki 52 is about 1.5 miles up the Indian River at Blowing Rocks Marina. Beer, Wine, and casual bar food is available, as well as the live music of local favorite Anthony James. If yoursquo;ve made it this far, yoursquo;ll have a lot to talk about on Monday morning

What is a “Downeast Style” Boat?

Originating in the Maine lobster-fishing industry, downeast style boats are appreciated for their classic lines, exceptional seakeeping abilities, and refreshingly simple layout. They are well-known for providing comfort and stability while underway, mostly due to their narrow entry which eases back to a soft chine. They do not pound in a head sea, and track exceptionally well in a following sea due to their long keels, large rudders, and soft chines that allow the sea to deflect outward with ease.

These boats are meant to run with the bow slightly elevated, so while some captains prefer to have trim tabs ldquo;just in caserdquo;, they find that they rarely find a need to use them. If yoursquo;ve got the need for speed, this boat is not for you. Captains who prefer fuel economy and comfort over speed generally gravitate towards these efficient cruisers, and this is the perfect style of boat if someone is looking to transition from a sailboat to power without getting too far out of their comfort zone.

While keeping the traditional vintage sailing-like qualities such as fuel economy close to 1 NM to the gallon of diesel and the romantic-style deck details, downeast boats surprise most captains who find that they easily do 15 knots in very rough seas.

NORMA JEAN is a novel example of downeast style, custom built by hand in 2007, and still well-taken care of by her original owner. Her striking ldquo;fighting lady yellowrdquo; hull color accentuates wood accents, and aft-facing mezzanine seating provides a perfect spot for family to relax during a sunset cruise or watch the fishing action.

Therersquo;s plenty of space in the cockpit with 4 storage compartments, and the salon is accessed by a beautiful cherry wood door. Inside the salon boasts ash wood flooring, cherry wood cabinets, a hi-lo table, a sofa, a U-Line Cooler, and a U-Line Freezer with an Ice Maker. The galley provides a U-Line refrigerator/freezer, a dinette, a stove, and a double stainless steel sink. NORMA JEAN has a forward master stateroom with a center island queen berth and a guest stateroom with a two twin berths, comfortably sleeping four adults in berthing with additional optional utilization of the salon sofa.

For more information, view NORMA JEANrsquo;s listing.
